Dear Youth Choir Parent,

Thanks so much for encouraging your child to be a member of the St Mary’s Youth Choir- we have exciting things planned for the remainder of this school year, and BIG goals for the future. Enclosed you will find informational materials regarding the group guidelines and expectations, a schedule, and a contest for your child to enter. But before we get to that, I would like to present you with the general goals for the Youth Choir.

♪  The main goal of the Youth Choir is to encourage our youth in the growth as Orthodox Christians through participation in the liturgical life of the Church. To that end, we will be:

• Learning about the music of the Orthodox Church
• Developing our understanding of the hymns of the Church
• Singing regularly in church services.
• Learning to serve as readers in the Church.

♪  In addition, the Youth Choir will help develop the musical talents of its members through:

• Developing our singing abilities
• Learning to read music
• Working at singing as a group
• Encouraging proper singing technique

♪  And finally, the Youth Choir is about having fun! We will sing a variety of music, play games, present concerts (maybe even make a recording?) and have social events.

If you are interested in volunteering to help the Youth Choir with snack time or organizational needs, please let me know- many hands make light work!
